At every People Who Thrive meeting, a speaker talks for 10 minutes about a time in their life or their career when they asked for help, and receiving that help had a transformative impact.

Then, everyone has one minute to address the group and share:

  • their “elevator pitch” (a quick introduction)

  • an “ask” (something they need help with)

  • and an “offer” (a way they can be of service to others).

When the floor is open for networking and conversation, it’s easy to walk right up to someone who can help you, someone you can help, someone whose vision is inspiring, or someone who seems generally awesome.

After the gathering, event attendees have access to the People Who Thrive slack, where community members can put their elevator pitch/ask/offer in writing, facilitating connections, follow-through, and friendship.

There’s this notion that very successful people became that way because they put their heads down and put in the hours as they pursued their goals.

But hyper-independence isn’t actually that effective. Any truly successful person will tell you they had a lot of support.

People Who Thrive is a forum for New Yorkers to talk about what they're working on and where they could use support, and put themselves out there to help others, too.

“Interdependence” is where the magic happens.
